About Us

Founder Hal Jean began this business in 1947. Mr. Jean, a Dexter native, returned to his hometown after World War II and started the predecessor business to Jean & Company. Hal Jean graduated from the University of Missouri on July 1, 1931, with a B.S. in Business Administration. He ran his accounting firm until 1973 when he sold the business to his son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Pam Jean, both of whom were Certified Public Accountants. Wayne and Pam received their early training from Price Waterhouse & Company, which at that time was one of the "Big Eight" C.P.A. firms in the world. They brought their expertise and training to the new firm and the name was changed to Jean & Company CPA. The firm started in 1973 with four employees and has grown to a staff of 12. Jean & Company offers all types of accounting services from client bookkeeping, auditing, income tax preparation and management services. From the large corporation to the small "Mom and Pop" store, Jean & Company provides services for any size business. Tax returns are prepared, from short-form returns to consolidated corporate returns. Jean & Company strives to provide service to all its clients. The staff listens to each client to accommodate specific needs when developing bookkeeping or accounting systems.
